The Acting Director

Greg Hanchett was appointed as interim director of the Office of Administrative Hearings on January 26, 2015.  Mr. Hanchett has over 16 years of experience as an administrative law judge in the states of Arizona and Montana.  He has presided over cases in various areas of administrative law, including but not limited to, professional and occupational licensing, water quality appeals, procurement, contracting disputes, employment discrimination, collective bargaining, and worker’s compensation.  Prior to becoming an administrative law judge in 1999, Mr. Hanchett spent 10 years engaging in both trial and appellate work as a prosecutor.  He has taught at seminars for lawyers and judges on substantive administrative law issues, appellate advocacy and substantive criminal law matters. Mr. Hanchett sums up his vision of the management of the Office of Administrative Hearings in this manner:

“The Office of Administrative Hearings exists for the singular purpose of providing fair, impartial and independent hearings in the most efficient manner possible to adjudicate disputes arising out of state regulation.  All parties involved in the hearing process are entitled to dignity and respect and they are entitled to be heard.  The director, the administrative law judges and support staff, being entrusted by the people to provide a forum that accords parties due process, will not forget that each case is important and that we will always strive to achieve the highest degree of public service that can be provided.”
